Nicki Minaj kicked off the first of the guest performances tonight on American Idol singing her song “Starship”.  Then it was season 10 winner Scotty McCreary’s turn to take the stage.  After his performance though, he wasn’t just presented with applause, he was presented with a platinum record for his debut album!  ”For a debut act to get a platinum record today is really Herculean,” Jimmy Iovine says. “We’re really proud of you. Let’s do this again next year.”

The burning question? Who was eliminated and was the judges save used?

Hollie was the first Idol contestant to take a seat in the bottom three.  She was then joined by Heejun and later Skyler.  Ryan then sends Skylar to safety which leaves either Holly or Heejun in danger of going home.  As I thought, and hoped, would happen, Heejun was eliminated.  Sorry, he doesn’t do anything for me.  Glad we found the better William Hung, but I would never buy a Heejun Han album and that is what I look for in a potential American Idol.

Heejun sang the same song he did last night, but it wasn’t enough.  As Steven Tyler said,  ”You saw this coming yourself after last week … we’re gonna have to let you go, man.”

We’re down to 8.  I still have Colton in my back pocket as a front runner and I am adding Elise to that mix.  I liked her performance last night, we’ll see if she can keep it up.
