Aw, I’m sorry, Jen. I know what it’s like to get that negative test, been getting them since July 2007. It’s definitely a roller coaster ride. Hang in there, you will get your BFP (big fat positive) soon! I’m going to be testing this weekend after my 1st attempt with an IUI. Good Luck!

You may still be pregnant. I would keep testing. Like another listener said….use first morning urine. By drinking the extra water this morning…you could have diluted the HCG. Keep testing!!

January 18, 2011 9:14 am

drinking water before a pregnancy test is not the best idea. You should take it first thing in the morning to see if you are pregnant because the hormone that the test detects is the most concentrated. if i were you i would try again in the morning. good luck with getting pregnant.

I am so sorry that it was not positive. It will happen. I also wanted to comment on “Laura” from this morning. She needs to crawl out from under whatever rock that she lives under and join the real world. I think that it is great that your willing to share your trials and triumphs with your listeners. So many women, and men, face trials getting pregnant and the way that you share and speak openly lets people know that they are not alone on their journey and the way that you keep it upbeat and positive helps those that may be at the end of their rope. Loved it when the dj from your sister station shared, and love it now. Loved hearing about the wedding and Glen’s wife’s lost ring and all of it. Thank you for letting us strangers be a part of your life. And Last, If a listener was offended that you admit that you have sex I have to wonder what media outlets she may actually enjoy. Sex is everywhere and it is ONLY HERE that it was discussed as a married couple, and for procreation. Give me a break! I would rather hear the juicy romance. hahaha
Good luck on your journey to motherhood. Your listeners are with you all the way!

January 18, 2011 9:25 am

Jen sorry to hear that you are not.

For me, we just stop trying so hard and it happened. I was 30 when it happened.

When I took my EPT, I was feeling exhausted all the time. My husband and my husband’s friend happened to be in the house when I took the test. I actually took two. I could not believe it! I showed my husband and he was shocked, his friend said “Now you did it!” It was the best feeling in the world.

Now our daughter is 14 and is our gem.

There is nothing so precious as being a parent. Even when they misbehave. You can state, you made them that way and have a good laugh. I always do!

Best wishes and may you be blessed.

Jen, You are one of my favorite people on Q104 and I know how much one can want to get pregnant, but maybe you are putting too much pressure on yourself – you are newly married and if you were taking any kind of birth control it may take some time. Try not to get too anxious about the whole thing – that will not help at all! I will pray for you that your dreams come true!

Jen, the last caller is absolutely correct!! You should definately use the Ovulation Predictor tests! My husband and I got pregnant for our 1st without even trying so when we decided to try again 4years later we assumed it would be just as easy! Wrong! I finally bought an ovulation predictor test and it turned out I was ovulating later than the “wheel” said I should be. Every woman has her own personal cycle and you can predict all you want but the sticks that test for the ovulation hormones are a wonderful tool. No more guessing!! Good luck! Love Ya!

January 18, 2011 9:40 am

Jen,
Don’t go through this on the radio…it will put way too much pressure on you and there is already enough when you are really trying. Keep it between you and your family and reach out for support when you need it. When you are relaxed and not under pressure, it will happen. Good luck!

Hey Jen
Just have fun with it. Don’t start doing all the test and ovulation kits. It will happen on its own. Don’t make sex a chore.
Good luck

sorry it didn’t come up a bfp. But try in the morning. Also the other was to know when you are ovulating is to chart basal temp and mucus. We had issues getting pg but now have a lovely little boy. It happens when it happens keep your chin up.

I don’t think Jen would really do this on the air. I think she knew ahead of time that she was not pregnant. She is a newly wed and would want that private moment with her hubby is she really thought she was prego.. But it was fun, thanks for letting us play along with it.
P.S. I love Jen as an addition to the morning show. She is a great fit to replace Rebecca (who was also great). Could you ever give us updates on her?

so sorry jen but i am going to give you the secret to getting pregnant ok this is what you have to do its gonna sound crazy but it works i have 3 kids to prove this . so what you have to do is count 13 days from the day you start your period . on the 13th 14th and 15th and 16th have much sex as you can stand esp. on the 13th and 14ths . days . that is when your body is ovulating the most . try it out and let me know how it works out for you . good luck and god bless you and your hubby and the babies to come . sinceryly kerry ray

I agree. The only thing is, I was ovulating on day 20. But, a digital ovulation predictor kit let me know I was ovulating so late. That was my problem. I wasn’t “trying” that late in my cylce. LOL

    Kathy
    January 18, 2011 1:10 pm

I agree with you…We also timed it to help pick out the genders too. If you have sex closer to ovulation you have more chances to have a boy. The further away from ovulation, your chances of a girl increase. The reason being is that the ‘boy sperm’ swim fast, but die off fast. The ‘girl’ sperm take there sweet ‘ol time trying to find the egg and therefore live longer. I have 2 girls and the last one we tried for and got our boy! PS…this proves that women are much smarter and more logical than men from the start!! lol

Sorry to hear that Jen! I know how frustrating the ups and downs are when trying. I got married in September…this will be our 4th month of trying….but im hopeful! Hang in ther! and good luck!

Katie
January 18, 2011 11:47 am

Jen, you arent supposed to drink a lot of water beforehand because it dilutes the hCG (hormone produced in pregnancy) that is present in your urine. Limit your water intake and wait at least 4 hours. You might actually be preggo! I only know this because my hubbie and I trying right now too. Good luck to us both! :)

Never been tempted to call a radio show until this morning. Have to say that I would be wary of sharing news that early even if you were pregnant. Miscarriage is way more common than you think. With my first pregnancy, it happened right away and we told a ton of people, then I miscarried at 9 weeks. Had to tell same people what happened which just tore the wound open again. When 3rd pregnancy stuck, waited till 12 weeks to share news. Now, I’m 39 with a fabulous 9.5 month son. Good luck, relax and stay positive!

    Kathy
    January 18, 2011 1:15 pm

I see your point, but If you miscarry you miscarry. I was calling my mom and sister as I was waiting for the results. I miscarried a couple times and frankly, the people I told helped me through it emotionally. Why do people always have to throw their 2 cents worth in when it involves the negative outcome? Let her enjoy this time and handle it the way she wants. Not everyone miscarries and if so…we all handle it differently We all get through it somehow. She’s an adult and will do what she wants. If she wants to share so early…so be it. Congrats on the baby though! Enjoy it…goes way too fast =)

      Kathy
      January 18, 2011 1:16 pm

      Also…miscarriages don’t only happen before 12 weeks.

Jen, take yout temperature before you even sit up in bed in the morning when you think you may be ovulating if its elevated that is the best time to try. Stress is also a big damper. GOOD LUCK TO YOU BOTH!

Jen, My first 3 pregnancy tests came out negative (took them once every 4 days). The fourth one was positive! Take another test in a few days. It maybe too early.

Thanks for sharing your news with everyone. We all feel like we know you even though you have no idea who we all are, although we all have your best interest at heart. Is your husband listening so he can find out along with everyone else? Everyone has a strategy or an opinion. Have you heard enough yet?

REMEMBER- Test the urine in the morning

Scott
January 18, 2011 7:28 pm

I know you’re hoping it’ll happen soon but think of it this way, Nate gets to wine and dine ya with some more wonderful memories before you have the next 20 some-odd years all blotted out and totally rearranged for the new addition to your family.

That might make it sound a little scary but at 42 and my youngest baby is now 20 years old, I feel too young to be done being a parent!

Babyhopes.com Buy a stock of inexpensive ovulation tester strips. This way over the next few months, you can REALLY narrow the best 48 hours after true ovulation. Everyone is different. After 9 monhts of trying and round 3 of Clomid, I got prego on day 19–not 14 like “everyone” says. I was 38 with my first (and sadly my only–second time around has been harder than the first). Everyone’s experience is as unique as you are. Best wishes–please take a peek at the website! They also sell bulk prego tests, too. Very inexpensive!

Your best way of knowing if you are or not is to trash the EPT’s and go to your OBGYN and get a blood test. I know people want to know before all that but a blood test will truely tell you what you want to hear. :)
